Automatic gates in India

Elite gates are designed with aluminum outer cover. The aluminum outer cover protects the gates from chipping, scratching and fading. Elite gates from Elite elevators are the world’s first automatic aluminum gates. These gates are installed and operated without tracks or rollers. The movement of the gates are automatic and thus avoids the common trouble of dust or dirt getting trapped in the rollers or tracks at the entrance. This allows easy cleaning and easy operation of gates.

These Elite gates have adjustable hinges for smooth operation and has a three-point arm lock system that enables the gates to be folded while opening and closing. This feature helps in providing a wide space at the entrance for entry and exit. These gates are provided with safety sensors to avoid something getting trapped while the gate closes automatically. This helps us provide complete safety to our family members and children especially. The gates are available over 100 designs and are also customizable as per the need of the customer.

Elite gates are 30 feet wide and 10 feet high with 3mm thick welded aluminum profiles. These gates are fitted with inner support as strong as steel but stay lighter than the steel. These gates can be fitted even in uneven pillars with vertical and horizontal adjustment and thus the movement becomes smooth and easier even in those kinds of uneven pillars.

The gates have child safety protection which sensors any movement of a hindrance on its way and automatically moves back. Elite gates are fully automatic and the trackless folding system made in Malaysia is patented. These gates have received the Homedec Quality award for their best quality and safety in the month of October 2009.

Elevator Modernization

Elevators are investments and they are not appliances that have a short life. Elevators are investments that are meant to serve a longer period of life, even more than an automobile. Home Elevators especially have a greater impact in the real estate market now as provisions of such increase the value of the real estate. Thus, the longevity of elevators is purely based on the modernistic technologies embedded within the system of the elevators.
We at ThyssenKrupp – Elite Elevators have found that 1 in 4 elevator requirements that we cater to are replacements. The very reason why is that most companies in India embrace primitive technologies and the parts used are of very low quality. Extreme discomfort while traversing, noise issues, uneven landing, turbulence, and constant breakdowns are the common complaints of these local elevators. ThyssenKrupp overcomes these with advanced German Engineering, European Safety Standards and unique patented technologies.

Elevators require civil modifications in such a way that the entire lift is accommodated within the structure. Conventional home elevators require constant maintenance because of these civil modifications. Generic civil modifications are Pit, Machine Room, and Headroom. With developments in technology, the space requirements of these civil modifications should be less. This would in turn increase the value of the Lift and also encourage the remodeling of the entire house or civil structure around the Lift. This has been possible with ThyssenKrupp’s Engineering and it is one of the very few companies to embrace it.

Maintenance is another feature that is looked into when investing in an elevator. The number of moving parts that are in the lift should be reduced by integrating the latest trends. One such part is the Guide Rail. The guide rail is a mechanical structure that moves the cabin of the lift along the shaft. This Guide Rail is constantly maintained with fluids that in turn lead to a lot of maintenance situations. Solutions should be similar to ThyssenKrupp’s Greaseless Rails Technology (GLR) which does not require any sort of fluids for the cabin to move across the shaft. Similarly, the travel in a lift, even though being short, should be delivering a smooth ride unlike conventional elevators and local elevators. ThyssenKrupp Home Elevators provide EGSSS (Extra Gentle Smooth Start Stop) which provides zero jerk during the travel. Emergency features should be multifold such as having backups to backups. While Commercial Elevators and Local Manufacturers are working on basic amenities, ThyssenKrupp home elevators have developed Advanced Error Notification Systems (AENS) and Magnetic Button Controls to make sure the lift’s error log and response to that are catered in the most efficient ways possible.

Most importantly, elevators should comply to the highest standards of safety so that investments that have a lifetime of 40 – 50 years are invested upon with utmost trust. Unfortunately, there are no standards for Home Elevators in India but, ThyssenKrupp Home Elevators are certified by TUV, Europe’s Most prestigious third-party safety certification organization, European Machine Directive Standards and most importantly it is SIL -3 certified. So, to have a perspective, SIL-4 is provided for nuclear power plants and
Bullet Trains. These modernizations are much recommended to look into before investing in a home Elevator.

COMPARING GEARLESS LIFTS AND HYDRAULIC HOME LIFTS

Lifts in this modern world is a necessity which can be seen at almost every other building and with the onset of 21st century and boom in economy the demand for elevators at residences is also increasing.
Today we will be understanding 2 major lift options for residences, first one is
Gearless lifts and the other one is Hydraulic home lift
1)    Gearless lifts – In gearless elevators, the sheave is attached directly to the end of the motor, and the motor rotates the sheaves directly
2)    Hydraulic home lifts - these elevators lift a cab by using a fluid-driven piston that is mounted inside of a cylinder
How to choose which kind of lift suits you better
Some major factors of the 2 lifts are being compared to provide a better perspective
1) Weight and height capacity –
Gearless Lifts usually offer capacity of 1000 – 2500 kgs and are used at high rise buildings
Whereas Home lifts offer capacity of 400-600 kg and travel up to
6 floors  2) Speed –
Gearless Lifts – 5 to 8 meter per second
Home lifts – 0.15 to 0.4 meter per second 3) Power consumption –
Gearless lifts consume high amount of energy but is economical in high rise project and It runs on 3 Phase power supply
Home Lifts consumes very less power in comparison to gearless and it runs on single phase power supply 4) Civil construction and permission
Gearless Lifts – Heavy civil construction is required along with all kind of permissions from authorities
Home Lifts – Civil construction is negligible and no permission is required

3) Standards and rules –
Gearless Lifts – They are made as per the guidelines for commercial lifts and set parameters are followed
Home lifts – they must follow separate rules for the lifts to be used in residences

To summarize, Gearless lifts are more suitable for a high rise building as it provides you speed, capacity and it has a high maintenance cost and power consumption which can be divided among residents. Whereas Home lifts are suitable for individual homes, bungalow and duplex as they don’t need civil construction, low power consumption, low cost of maintenance and safety of the product is higher
But there is an exception in ThyssenKrupp home lifts. ThyssenKrupp home lifts have embraced the skyscraper gearless technology and became the first company in the world to integrate it into Home Lifts. The Altura H300 embraces the stateof-the-art Cog belt technology which makes it the smoothest, safest, quietest and the fastest home lifts in the world. ThyssenKrupp has already pioneered the Hydraulic Lift technology with its older models of Orion and Gulliver and the latest Altura H200. ThyssenKrupp is always the front runner in setting trends and safety.

Important home lifts safety codes

Elevators are systems of multiple Mechanical and Electronic components working in synergy to deliver and eliminate a minute displacement problem in Human lives. It is in such cases, safety and regulations of these machineries be neglected owing to a plethora of reasons. Every country follows through a particular set of safety standards to ensure the proper working and installation of elevators. India is a habitat encouraging rapid globalization and the healthy increase in the elevator market of India supports that. So, it is recommended to adhere to multiple safety protocols and regulations and each nation does so. There must also be a higher emphasis on Home Elevator standards as Home Elevators, unlike commercial elevators, are invested upon with occasional maintenance and occasional usage in mind.
In India, there are some particular set of IS codes and regulations set.  For home lifts, the Indian Standard regulation codes are IS 14665 and IS 15259. If it is a machine room less elevator then IS 15785, similarly IS 14671 if it is a hydraulic lift. These standards provide a rule book on the civil measurements and rules the home elevator companies have to adhere to so that they are safe for operation. Despite of such regulations, India ranks among the highest in Elevator accidents in the World. So, Elevator companies, especially Home Elevator companies, should go through tough regulations and standard to provide the utmost safety. Unfortunately, most companies adhere to these basic standards and the exponential rise in local companies should instill fear among the consumers.
Proper safety standards can be associated with third party European safety standards where safety is one of the primary points in the building of any machinery. TUV is a third party organization serving since the inception of the Industrial Revolution. TUV certifies for safety of the product from manufacturing and post installation of the machinery. Similarly, an elevator should adhere to Machine Directive 2006/42/EC and EN 81-41. Machine Directive 2006/42/EC is a common safety standard that every elevator must comply to participate in a healthy capitalist environment. EN 81-41 refers to safety rules that comply to people with physical challenges. Most importantly, SIL-3 is a safety certification that provides one of the highest safety standards. It is a Safety Integrity Level certification that certifies the lift being safe in the environment in which it is situated and these certifications are usually provided to Nuclear Power Plants and Bullet trains because a hazard in those situations would cause damage to the entire structure around it. ThyssenKrupp home elevators are the only elevators that carry these certifications.
Consumers should be concerned about the lack of properly certified home lifts in India and it becomes obvious with facts that ThyssenKrupp is the only safety certified Home Lift Company in India.

Landing safety of home elevators

Landing is one of the key cycles in the operation of a Home Elevator and challenges to precision and safety occur in those areas. Landing involves multiple mechanical movements in the operation of the lift and there are certain points that you should be well aware of to ensure maximum safety to the people in the lift and also to the working of the Home elevator. Here are few points to consider to ensure landing safety of home elevators.
In the time of construction make sure all the landing of the elevator well should be of the same depth such that when elevator is installed the gap between the elevator and the landing remain same on every floor.
If the gap between the elevator and the landing is more than the mentioned limit then it has to be taken care before handing it to be used by the customer.
The floor level inside and outside of the elevator on each and every floor should be same, so the passenger using the elevator should not face any step up or down while entering and exiting the elevator.
The sensors in the home elevator should be calibrated in such a way that it only opens the elevator doors when the level of the floor inside and outside of the elevator is matched.

While using the home elevator make sure that the passenger should stand away from the door and make sure their clothes don’t come near the door while it’s closing.
Never try to open the doors when the elevator is not at the floor and never try the stop the elevator’s door while it is being closed.
If you want to keep the door of the elevator open, hold the button or ask someone to hold it for you.
While maintenance work is being done and the door is open on any particular floor, don’t go near to that. The engineers working there have taken proper training for doing the maintenance work.
Routine servicing of the home elevator has to be done in timely interval in order to keep the elevator working properly and also for the detailed inspection of all the components of the home elevator.
This not only helps to keep the home elevator working in proper condition but also assures all the safety parameters are in good state, thus avoid accidents.
Any sign of wear and tear of the door is observed or if it’s jammed or something avoid using the elevator and call the technicians.
These hassles are generally associated with local manufacturers and most of the advanced technologies involving sensors and programmable logic circuits are devoid in these companies. ThyssenKrupp Home Lifts are integrated with Magnetic Driven Controls for the automation of the lift and Advanced Error Notification Systems (AENS) which possesses a complete log of all the actions and errors that the system of the lift has incurred over the time. This ensures utmost safety to the users as these technologies adhere to TUV Safety Certification and SIL – 3 Certification.
